Sporting Lisbon Soccer
Sporting Clube de Portugal is a Portuguese soccer club based in Lisbon, Portugal. The club was founded in 1906 and plays its home games in Estadio Jose Alvalade which has a capacity of 50,466. The club is affectionately known as Leoes (Lions) and play in the Portuguese Liga.
The club is most commonly known as Sporting Lisbon rather than Sporting Clube de Portugal. Sporting's uniform colours are hooped green and white jerseys with black shorts for their home uniform and an all-white uniform for their away matches.
Through their 103 year old history, the club has won the Portuguese Liga 18 times, the Portuguese Cup 19 times and finished runners-up in the 2008 edition of the Portuguese League Cup. The club managed to win the 1964 edition of the Uefa Cup Winners' Cup and finished runners-up in the UEFA Cup edition of 2005.
