Spain 2012 European Championships goalkeeper jersey
Current European and World Champions Spain have revealed their new goalkeeper jersey that number one Iker Casillas will wear, if fit, at the 2012 European Championship.
The team were long seen as the underachievers of world football but that image has been erased in recent times. Euro 2008 saw them play some fantastic football before beating Germany in the final courtesy of a Fernando Torres goal. The 2010 World Cup saw Spain dubbed as the favourites along with Brazil. Nevertheless, an opening loss to Switzerland raised doubts before two comfortable victories saw them progress into the knock out stages. After a relatively simple run to the final, Spain faced Holland in a dour final which saw Andres Iniesta score the winner in extra time. Since then, the team have gone undefeated in their Euro 2012 qualification group with 18 points from 18 thus seeing them confirmed at the tournament next summer.
The new Spain 2012 goalkeeper jersey is predominately yellow with thick black sleeve edges and a large black horizontal band running across the middle of the body. Manufacturers Adidas place their black logo in the top right of the jersey whilst the three traditional black stripes run down the shoulders and upper sleeves. A large club badge is situated in the top left and there are numerous other small black patches around the underarm and shoulders.
