Sampdoria Soccer
Sampdoria is an Italian soccer club playing in the top tier of the Italian league, Serie A. The club was founded in 1946, however its roots go back to 1890s as the club formed in 1946 was a merger of two teams, Sampierdarenese and Adrea Doria. The club plays its home games at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris in Genoa which has a capacity of 36,536. The club is affectionately known as Blucerchiati (blue-ringed).
Sampdoria play their home games in a mainly blue home jersey with white, red, black and blue horizontal stripes on the centre of the jersey representing the colours of the former teams. Sampdoria's away uniform colours are mainly white and again feature red, white, red, black and blue horizontal stripes.
Sampdoria's roll of honour features quite an impressive run during the 1980s and 90s period. The club lifted the Serie A title in 1991 and managed to finish as runners-up of the 1992 edition of the Champions league. The club won the UEFA Cup winners cup in 1990 and won the Coppa Italia 4 times.
