The 2009 Red Bull New York FC jersey is predominately white and keeps with the traditional look of previous Red Bull home kits. As usual, the large sponsor containing 2 symmetrical red bulls and a yellow circle is present whilst the uniform is once again manufactured by Adidas. Adidas’s presence results in the usual 3 trademark stripes running down the arms. However, these red stripes are intercepted on either side by the USA flag and the MLS badge. Overall, this effort looks fairly similar to previous uniforms and although the colours blend nicely as usual, there isn’t much new for any New York fans to get excited about.

New York Red Bull History

Red Bull New York is a American Soccer team who were founded in 1995 and were one of the teams to participate in the MLS debut season back in 1996 under the name New York Metrostars. In 2006, the team was sold to Red Bull GMBH resulting in their playing name being changed to New York Red Bulls. The club’s best success came in 2008 when they managed to reach the MLS Cup final before losing 3-1 to Columbus Crew. Red Bull New York also contests an annual cup known as the Atlantic Cup against bitter rivals DC United.

Former Chicago Fire manager, Juan Carlos Osorio is the current Red Bulls manager. Osorio has been in charge since the beginning of the 2008 season where he took the team to the final of the MLS cup after finishing in the final play off spot. The club’s current designated player is Columbian striker Juan Pablo Angel who before the start of the 2009 season had scored 33 goals in 47 games for the side. The team currently plays their home fixtures at the Giants Stadium which is shared with the New York Giants and the New York Jets American Football teams. However, the club are planning to move to a new 25,000 capacity soccer stadium in 2010.
