Newcastle United Soccer
Newcastle United is an English soccer side which was founded in 1892. The club is also affectionately known as The Magpies and The Toon. The club was formed as a merger between Newcastle East End and Newcastle West End. The club has always played their home games at St James' Park which currently has a capacity of 52,387. The club's most long-standing and fierce rivals are Sunderland.
The club's home strip is striped black and white although Newcastle's original colours were red jerseys and white shorts. Newcastle's current away strip is an all-purple kit. The club's jersey sponsors are Northern Rock and their kits are manufactured by sportswear manufacturer Adidas. Adidas have been manufacturing Newcastle's kits since 1995 and their current deal expires at the end of the 2009/10 season.
The club's Roll of Honour shows 4 soccer League First Division Champions with the last being won in 1926/27 (First Division is equivalent to the now Premier League). The club has also won 6 FA Cup titles, 1 FA Community Shield and 1 UEFA Intertoto Cup.
