New England Revolution Soccer

New England Revolution is a Major League Soccer club based in Massachusetts, nicknamed the Revs. Revolution is used to refer to the involvement of New England, a north-east region in USA, in the American Revolution. The club was founded in 1995. It is owned by Robert Kraft, founded and chairman of The Kraft Group, involved amongst others in the sports and entertainment sector. He also owns New England Patriots, an American football (originating from the game of rugby) team playing in the NFL. Their stadium is the Gillette Stadium, also owned by Robert Kraft, which was opened in 2000 and has a capacity of 68756. All the games played by New England Revolution in their 14-year history were broadcast live on TV.

The Revs' incumbent coach is Steve Nicol from Scotland. In his playing career, he was a defender and spent a large chunk of his career at Liverpool between 1981 and 1995, playing 343 games and scoring 36 goals. He was also a national team player, earning 27 caps between 1984 and 1992. He was a player/manager on two occassions: with Notts County in 1995, and with the same New England Revolution as an interim manager in 1999. He took over the reigns at the Revs in 2002. The only two honours won by the club arrived very recently: the 2007 US Open Cup, and the 2008 SuperLiga. They won the Eastern Conference in 2002 and 2005, and were 4 times runners-up in the MLS Cup. In the 2008 MLS season, they ranked 3rd in the Eastern Conference and 4th in the Overall table.

New England Revolution's uniforms are manufactured by Adidas and do not have a jersey sponsor. The home uniform has a navy blue base colour. The jersey has details in white, on the shoulders and on the sides, and in red on the sleeves and on the chest. The away uniform consists on a white jersey with black stripes and details, white shorts and white socks.
