Olympique de Marseille is a French club based in Marseille, on the south-east coast of France. The club's nicknames are L' OM, Marseillais, and Les Phoceens. The name Olympique de Marseille was adopted in 1899, and before that the club used the names Sporting Club and US Phoceens. At the beginning, rugby was the most important sport for the club, from which their present motto “Droit au but” comes. Their home soccer arena is the Stade Velodrome, built in 1937 with later renovations in 1984 and 1998, and currently having a capacity of just over 60 thousand.
In their history, Marseille won the Ligue 1 (earlier known as Division 1) 8 times, the Coupe de France 10 times, the 1993 UEFA Champions League, and twice the Intertoto Cup, amongst others. Marseille have a strong relationship with Greek club AEK Athens and Italians AS Livorno.
Marseille's uniforms are manufactured by Adidas and sponsored by French telecom services provider Neuf. The club's home uniform is all white, with sky blue details on the jersey. The away uniform comprises of black shorts and socks, and a trendy design jersey featuring sky blue and black. Marseille's third uniform is a gold jersey with black details, black shorts and black socks.
