Manchester City Soccer
Manchester City is an English soccer club playing in the top tier of English soccer, the Premier League. The club was founded in 1880 and it was originally formed as St Mark's (West Gorton). They then changed their name to Manchester City FC in 1894. The club are affectionately known as the Citizens, the Blues and City. They play their home games at the City of Manchester Stadium, Manchester, which currently has a capacity of 47,726. The club has had a change in ownership lately and has become the property of Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan which has since dominated the transfer windows in trying to sign in high-profile players such as Kaka and John Terry.
City's home colours are sky blue and white while their traditional away colours were previously either maroon or red and black. In recent years the club has had various designs of their away uniform but in the 2008/09 season the club has gone back to the traditional black and maroon strip for their away matches. Manchester City's current home uniform is their traditional sky blue home uniform with white shorts.
The Citizens' domestic roll of honour sees them as First Division winners twice and Second Division winners 7 times. The club has also won the FA Cup 4 times, the League Cup twice and the Charity Shield 3 times. On an international level, City have won the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1970 when they beat Gornik Zabrze.
