Leaked images of the potential new national Portuguese home jersey has been revealed over a picture of star player Cristiano Ronaldo. The angle of the picture is not the most revealing but it is clear that the predominate colour is the usual dark red. A thin green stripe is clear on the sleeve as is a gold squad number in the centre of the jersey. Unfortunately, any other details on the jersey are hidden by the camera angle.

Portugal will be hoping to wear their new kit at the 2010 World Cup but they face a hard task to qualify after a poor start has left them stranded seven points behind group leaders Denmark. With only four games to go, it is unlikely that Portugal will catch Denmark even if they win all four of their games. Therefore, the Portuguese need to focus on trying to win second place. Hungary currently occupy that spot and are four points clear of Portugal. However, a double header between Hungary and Portugal in September and October may go some way to deciding who takes 2nd. If both teams share the points, then 4th placed Sweden may take advantage and grab second spot themselves.
