Societa Sportiva Lazio or SS Lazio is an Italian professional sports club, most noted for its football. founded in 1900 and based in Rome. Lazio participate in thirty-seven sports disciplines in total, more than any other sports association in Europe. Since the club's inception in 1900 Lazio quickly became a well organised and structured club joining League competitions in 1912. Lazio resisted the facist attempts to merge all of Rome's teams under one common team, which became AS Roma. The club played in the first organized Serie A in 1929 and achieved a second place finish in 1937—its highest pre-war result.
Lazio have been Serie A champions twice, in the 1973–74 and 1999–00 season. They have won the Coppa Italia 4 times and the Italian Super Cup twice. They have also won the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup and the UEFA Super Cup once.
Lazio play their home games at the Stadio Olimpico, which they share with local rivals AS Roma. the stadium has a capacity of over 72,700 it is the second largest of its kind in Italy. Lazio's colours of white and sky blue were inspired by the national emblem of Greece, due to the fact that Lazio is a mixed sports club this was chosen in recognition of the fact that the Ancient Olympic Games. Their current uniforms are made by Puma. The home jersey is sky blue, on the jersey Lazio#39&;s club badge and symbol is the eagle, which is an acknowledgment to the emblem of the Roman Empire's army carried the symbol with them when going in to battle.
