It’s not only the England outfield soccer players that have recently received a new relatively retro uniform for the 2009/11 seasons. Manufacturers Umbro have been busy also designing a brand new goalkeeper jersey for the England number one.

Will David James make this jersey his own?

The new uniform is completely “racing green” and contains the white Umbro logo in the top right whilst the England crest is opposite on the top left with the single star representing one World Cup victory in the same color tone as the rest of the jersey. The jersey contains a round neck to improve response time and a brand new three quarter length sleeve fit to prevent unnecessary material from gathering up around the cuff.

Senior Designer David Blanch was quoted as saying: “With the new goalkeeper’s uniform we wanted to be very honest about what the keeper was about. We opted for racing green because we wanted to have a real strength of color.”
