Greece national soccer team are currently 19th in FIFA's world rankings. Greece made its first appearance in a major tournament at Euro 1980 in Italy but didnt get past the first round. Greece have only ever appeared in one world cup finals competition, in 1994, where they didnt get past the first round in a group that included; Nigeria, Bulgaria, and Argentina. Greece's greatest ever achievement and one of the greates upsets of all time was winning the Euro 2004 competition in Portugal. They beat the hosts 1-0 thanks to a 57th minute goal from Charisteas. The triumph of Euro 2004 is the biggest sporting achievement in the country's history for a team sport.

Greece's first ever game was in 1929, wher Greece lost to italy 1-4. Ther biggest win was in 1949 against Syria, where they won 8-0. Their biggest defeat was in 1938 against Hungary, losing 11-1. Theodoros Zagorakis is Greece's most capped player with 120 caps and Nikos Anastopoulos is Greece's top goalscorer with 29 goals.

Greece have been using the Karaiskakis Stadium in Piraeus as their home ground since they became European Champions The stadium can hold up to 33,334 people. Greece have also used Kaftanzoglio Stadium, Athens Olympic Stadium, Apostolos Nikolaidis Stadium as well as other stadiums. Greece's home uniform since the Greek FA was first established was blue, but after Greece's triumph at Euro 2004 they changed their home soccer jersey from blue to white. Currently their uniforms are made by Adidas and their away colours are blue.
