FC Dallas was founded in 1996, which coincided with the first year that a season took place in the Major League Soccer. At the time, the club was called Dallas Burn and continued to use this name until very recently. The club was owned by the Major League Soccer until 2002, when it was sold to Hunt Sports Group owned by Clark Hunt. FC Dallas is a club from Texas, and has started playing in 92200-seater Cotton Bowl stadium, moving to 11000-capacity Dragon Stadium for 2003, subsequently relocating back to the Cotton Bowl, and then building their own stadium.
The stadium, called the Pizza Hut Park, has a capacity of 20500 supporters. Dallas Burn moved into it in August 2005, and decided to change the name to be more fitting to a soccer club with its own soccer stadium: FC Dallas. The team is managed by Schellas Hyndman who took charge in 2008. In the 2008 campaign, the Toros ranked 5th in the 7-team Western Conference with 36 points from 30 games. Their only major honour was the triumph in the US Open Cup of 1997. The club has strong rivalry with Chicago Fire, and more recently Colorado Rapids.
Dallas' jerseys are manufactured by Adidas. The nickname the Hoops comes from the design of their jerseys. The home jersey is red and has white hoops, and blue Adidas stripes. The home shorts and home socks are red. The away jersey is white and has blue hoops, and red traditional Adidas stripes. Complementary to the away jersey are white shorts and socks. FC Dallas has no jersey sponsor yet, so like other similar teams, it has the team name printed on the front of the jersey.
