Colorado Rapids Soccer

Colorado Rapids is a Major League Soccer club from Colorado, founded in 1995, that is, a year before the first MLS season. The team started playing its home games at Mile High Stadium, a baseball field having a capacity of 76273. The Rapids moved into INVESCO Field, an American soccer field having a capacity of 76125, in 2002. The club has been playing in 18776-capacity Dick's Sporting Goods Park since 2007.

The club is owned by Stan Kroenke, not a new name for Premier League viewers as he has acquired a 12.19% stake in Arsenal FC, and was being mentioned in the press for a possible takeover. In fact, Colorado Rapids have an affiliate agreement with Arsenal to strengthen the Arsenal brand in the United States, and have reciprocal results in England for Colorado. A similar deal is in place with Mexican club, and 2008 Club World Championship semifinalists, Pachuca. The club crest has been altered twice in the club history. Colorado Rapids have never won an honour in a major competition. They ranked 4th out of seven teams in the Western Conference in MLS 2008. The closest they got to winning something was being on the losing end of the 1997 MLS Cup final and the 1999 US Open Cup final.

The Rapids' jerseys are manufactured by Adidas and have no jersey sponsor, hence having the club name on the front. The home kit consists of a burgundy jersey with sky blue Adidas stripes, white shorts and burgundy socks. The away kit is all sky blue, with the only glimpse of a different colour being present on the Adidas three-stripes, which are burgundy. The club also has a third kit which includes a white jersey, burgundy shorts and white socks.
