Chivas USA Soccer
Chivas USA was founded very recently in 2004, and is based in the state of California. It became the 11th club to register for the Major League Soccer, which nowadays contains 15 teams. Chivas plays in the Western Conference and participated for the first time in 2005. It ranked 6th in 2005, 3rd in 2006, 1st in 2007, and 2nd in 2008. The fast progression of the club is evident with such results, considering that it has only been around for 4 years.
The club is owned by Mexican business man and film producer Jorge Vergara. The coach of the team is Preki Radosavljevic, born in Serbia (Yugoslavia) but having American nationality. He was a Premier League player with Everton and Portsmouth between 1992 and 1995. Chivas shares The Home Depot Centre, a stadium with a capacity of 27000, with LA Galaxy. The closest that Chivas got to winning an honour was getting to the Final of the MLS Supporters' Shield.
The jerseys of Chivas are manufactured by Adidas. The sponsor is the leading paint company in Mexico, Comex, and the deal started in 2007. The home jersey is red with white vertical stripes, and also part of the home kit are blue shorts and blue socks.The away kit is made up of a blue jersey, blue shorts and blue socks.
