Benfica Soccer
Benfica is a Portuguese soccer club which was founded in 1904. The club is originally named as Sport Lisboa e Benfica but is commonly known as Benfica. The club plays in its stadium namely Estadio do Sport Lisboa e Benfica, Lisbon which has a capacity of 65,200. The club has never been relegated from the Portuguese Primeira Divisao (Portuguese First Division). Benfica are affectionately known as O Glorioso.
The club's uniform colours are red jerseys and white shorts for their home uniform whilte the away uniform is compromised of a white jersey and black shorts with red touches. The club has managed to get into the Guiness Book of World Records (out of the Portuguese teams) for having over 14 million Befica fans worldwide and over 160,000 registered paying supporters.
Benfica have won the Portuguese soccer league a record 31 times, the Portuguese cup a record 27 times. The club also managed to win the Champions League 2 times in 1961 and 1962.
