2009 Sounders FC Home Jersey

The Seattle Sounders home jersey, as modelled above by Sanna Nyassi, is best described as being predominately “rave green” with blue piping down each side. The uniform is manufactured by Adidas which sees the trademark 3 stripes running down either arm. X Box, the Microsoft gaming giant, provides the sponsor in a white typeface as a part of Microsoft’s five year sponsorship deal of Seattle Sounders. The green and white blends very well, especially since these are the two primary colours used in X Box marketing.
All in all, the jersey takes some risks with some very bold colours which evidentially manage to blend well with each other and give Sounders supporters the individuality they would have wanted from their new team.

Since their formation, Sounders have managed to acquire the signings of some fairly prominent players. Sebastien Le Toux, who was the 2007 USL Most Valuable Player, became the clubs first signing whilst Seattle’s second signing was the experienced former Tottenham and USA international goalkeeper Kasey Keller. However, as it increasingly looked like Sounders would miss out on a designated player, on October 28th, 2008, former Arsenal and Sweden midfielder Freddie Ljungberg signed for a reported £2.5 million per season.

The club will be managed in the 2009 season by Sigi Schmid who has a successful history coaching in the MLS including winning the 2008 MLS Coach of the Year award. Schmid also led LA Galaxy to the MLS Cup in 2002 before winning it again in 2008 with Columbus Crew. Seattle Sounders play their home games at the 67,000 capacity Quest Field which is shared with the Seattle Seahawks American football team. Nevertheless, the upper tier of the stadium will be closed off for Sounders games leaving a capacity of 27,700 and a more intense atmosphere.
