The Red Bull New York away uniform for the MLS 2009 season was worn during the previous campaign as well. The jersey is predominately navy blue and keeps the traditional look of previous Red Bull uniforms. The main spectacle on the jersey is the red and yellow Red Bull sponsor sits right in the middle of the jersey. The uniform also contains four white stripes coming out of the four corners of the jersey. Manufacturers Adidas place their white logo centrally just below the collar whilst the three traditional white stripes run down the shoulders. All in all, the jersey looks too busy to have a real lasting impact on the eye. The navy blue doesn’t combine very well with the red and yellow sponsor.

Red Bull New York saw their best success come in the 2008 MLS season where they reached the MLS Play off final before losing 3-1 to Columbus Crew. Former Chicago Fire manager Juan Carlos Osorio has been in charge since the beginning of the 2008 MLS season. The club’s current designated player is Juan Pablo Angel, formerly of Aston Villa, who before the start of the 2009 season had scored 33 goals in 47 games for his side.
