The Chicago Fire away uniform for the 2009 MLS season is the same as the one worn during the previous campaign. The jersey takes a near identical approach to the home uniform with the only real difference being the reversal of color. Instead of being red, the jersey is predominately white with the main source of red coming from manufacturers Adidas who have their red logo centrally and their three red stripes on the shoulders as usual. However, a vast improvement on the home jersey is how the sponsor blends in a lot better with the uniform as a whole. Sponsor “Best Buy” is placed in a red rectangle with a white typeface and fits in nicely with the rest of the design. Nevertheless, the club badge still looks fairly out of place as its colors don’t blend with red and white.

Since their formation in 1997, Chicago Fire has been one of the more dominant teams in Major League Soccer. However, by their own standards, they will have perhaps expected to have won more than one MLS Cup back in 1998.

Chicago Fire is also one of the few clubs to have a designated player on their roster. That player is Mexican legend and joint all time leading Confederations Cup goalscorer, Cuauhtemoc Blanco. Blanco is the 2nd leading all time scorer for the Mexican national team and has a fantastic goal record with Mexican team Club de Futbol America where he spent fifteen years of his career.
